Student Voice

The aim of the Student Voice is to ensure that students are at the heart of higher education activity at the college and that the student requirements and views drive the continuous improvement of all higher education provision at the college.

Processes are in place to ensure that nomination to representation posts is fair and that every student has the opportunity to take part if they wish and that nomination processes are fair and representative. The Student Voice is represented by a number of key activities, roles and evaluative sources which feed into college higher education provision:

All of these mechanisms are designed to be understandable and accessible to students and students are encouraged to feedback about their experiences and contribute to the development of all aspects of H.E. provision in the college.

HE Student Reps

Tameside College values the views of all learners enrolled onto HE programmes and is committed to improving the learner experience. Effective communication is key in this process. For this reason, we expect that every Higher Education programme has at least one student rep.

Student reps are elected by their peer group and are expected to both pass comments and suggestions from that group about their course to the staff in that area and equally, to relay information back to the group from the staff and managers of the course. HE student reps will undertake training during the first term and then will be invited to attend programme meetings throughout the academic year. Student reps work alongside the NUS
