Funding your Access course

Pre-Access to HE

Tuition fees will be waived if:

(Not in paid employment)
You are unemployed, seeking work and in receipt of a means tested benefit OR economically inactive – (GM Residents only).  If you are unemployed and seeking work, but are not in receipt of a means tested benefit.

(In paid employment)
You receive a means tested benefit accepted by the college; are working less than 20 hours per week and have an income of £343 per month (individual claims) or £549 per month (household claims) OR you earn less than £20,880 annual gross salary AND the course you are studying will help you find or improve your employment

Access to HE

If you are aged between 19-23 and do not have a qualification equivalent to 2 A-Levels, then tuition fees will be waived.

If aged 19-23, and you have a qualification equivalent to 2 A-Levels at the start of the course, then fees are payable by either Advanced Learner Loans (see below) or tuition fees are payable.

If you are aged over 23 at the start of the course, then fees are payable by either Advanced Learner Loans (see below) or tuition fees are payable.

Advanced Learner Loans

If you are aged 19 or over and studying at Level 3 or above you can apply for an Advanced Learner loan to help with the cost of your course.

Loans are not dependent on your income and do not affect any benefits you may receive. It’s easy to apply and you will only start making repayments when your income is more than £524 per week, £2,274 per month or £27,295 per year.
