Higher National Diploma in Computing (Cyber Security) (HTQ)

This is a full-time programme which comprises of 7 modules studied over one year. The HTQ (Higher Technical Qualification) will enable you to develop a range of specialist skills to meet the demands of employers. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, case studies, assessments, group work, practical work, projects, extended writing and interactive activities.

Core Units:  ●  Computing Research Project  ●  Business Process Support

Specialist Mandatory Units:  ●  Applied Cryptography in the Cloud  ●  Forensics   ●  Information Security Management

Likely Non-core units:  ●  Data Structures and Algorithms

  ●  Architecture

The course is taught by expert teaching staff with a wide range of industrial experience. Learning in state of the art rooms, learners will use industry standard hardware and software and have access to extensive VLE with resources and online submission. There is also a games design & development studio with VR technologies.

This course's face-to-face studies will run for 1 day a week in the T1 Campus of Tameside College.

You will progress onto this course on successful completion of HNC Computing (Cyber Security).

You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, displays, case studies, presentations, extended written work and practical assessments whilst on placement. There are no examinations for this course.

You will receive a Higher National Diploma in Computing on completion of this course, accredited by Pearsons.

On successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto:

  ●  You can complete a top-up year at a university in order to achieve a full undergraduate degree if desired – in order to fully deepen your knowledge and skills.

  ●  Enter the workforce directly with potential career paths including roles such as Cyber Security Analyst, Information Security Specialist or Software Developer to name a few.

  ●  Many of our alumni opt for industry certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security + or CEH to enhance their professional credentials.
