"My role is to lead, implement and oversee quality assurance systems and procedures across the Higher Education provision.

This includes analysis, feedback, reports and action plans to drive improvement, as well as provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues, collaborative partner organisations and students on all aspects of the HE programmes and provision as a whole.

I also support pastoral and welfare services to Higher Education students and help plan and deliver growth of the Higher Education provision throughout the organisation in collaboration with the college management team.

Student Space is a programme led by Student Minds.  The programme was initially launched to provide additional support for student mental health during the pandemic, however has since progressed to being a vital place for students to go to support them through the uncertainty of student life.

The programme has been accessed by over 450,000 students across the UK.

Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) is support to cover the study-related costs you have because of a mental health problem, long-term illness or any other disability.

overall satisfaction rate.

of which the college has no influence upon, the report is
compiled and the findings are then publically published

The NUS is open to all our university students once you have enrolled, and offers a wide range of services to support you in your studies.

You can get involved in campaigns and enrichment activities, and there is also advice on how to work for the NUS, along with all the discounts available to students.

Here at Tameside College we believe that learning should not be exclusive to the classroom, if we can take our teaching and learning outside of the classroom we will.  Trips and visits that are linked to learning objectives are encouraged across all curriculum areas.

Each curriculum area is open to ideas and discussions regarding trips and visits students feel will enhance their experience with us and their learning. If you have an idea, why not share these with us and we can then discuss the logistics of this.   Trips and visits are additional to course costs, and therefore need consideration when planning. 

One of our most recent trips involved our HTQ Computing (Cyber Security) students taking part in a Cyber Security day at Greater Manchester Digital Security Hub (DiSH).  Organised by Barclays Eagle Labs and CISCO, there were speakers throughout the day which included: 

• The security team at Barclays who spoke about diverse entrances into cyber
• The CIO from the NCC group who lectured about the importance of leadership and security
• A Technical Architect from Rolls Royce giving a speech about his journey into cyber and 10 year tenure at the company
• An experienced consultant at CISCO giving an overview of the importance of frameworks and controls in security
• The Chief Technologist at Computacenter giving an overview of tech roles, and how to make yourselves stand out to employers
• Director of Security, Technology and Operations at Unilever who spoke about the importance of communication and relationship building.

Following the main talks during the day, students had the opportunity to take part in a number of exciting breakout sessions which included 'Women in Cyber'; 'Offensive Security'; 'Security Architecture' and 'The Role of a CISO'.
